HIKING - BACKPACKING - CAMPING - SNORKELING - SCUBA - KAYAK -TRAVEL

BEHIND THE SCENES ...   Many areas you hike have group size limits , which you need to be aware of.  All groups shown in the Virtual albums may appear to hike together, when in fact they do not.  *sorry, photographer editing illusion*  Groups are broken down into Fast-Medium-and-Slower hikers, with designated regrouping points along the way for safety purposes.  Educate yourself on the rules directly with the US Forest Service and National Park Service.  Don't assume - Get the facts first.

11/11/2006 Groom Creek Loop - Spruce Mountain -
Prescott National Forest Arizona

Pine trees, crisp mountain air, panoramic views, log cabins, and fuzzy cool tarantulas are just a few of the pleasures on this hike to Groom Creek Loop. Go Virtual Hike with us 9 miles round trip on my favorite Prescott hike that offers just the right amount of rolling 1500ft elevation change up to the 7693ft fire tower on Spruce Mt, with beauty that will lift your spirit. (photos by Nunya)

05/31/2009 Groom Creek Loop Trail 307
Bradshaw Ranger District - Prescott National Forest Arizona

Groom Creek Loop Trail 307 is a popular hike located in the Bradshaw Ranger District of the Prescott National Forest in Arizona, and friendly to hikers, horses, and dogs. Go Virtual Hike with us 9 miles as we hike counter-clockwise on a trail surrounded by oak and juniper, that leads you up 1350ft in elevation change to the tall Ponderosa Pines and Douglas Fir of Spruce Mountain at 7,700ft elevation. Get a first hand view of the dedicated efforts by the Forest Service to correct the bark beetle damage from the 2002-2003 epidemic, which devestated 662,000 acres in Arizona and an estimated 18 million Ponderosa Pines.
