12/31/2005 Cathedral Rock -  Coconino National Forest -
Oak Creek / Sedona Arizona
The 0.7 mile up to Cathedral Rock might sound tame, but the 608ft elevation change will make you feel it. Virtual hike with us to the magnificent views at the top of this Sedona Vortex. "Wow" is the first word out of your mouth once you crest the saddle of this Must-Do hike! See the beautiful sunset I caught on the drive home.  (photos by Nunya)

12/31/2005 Broken Arrow to Submarine Rock - Munds Mountain Wilderness
Coconino National Forest - Oak Creek / Sedona Arizona

12/26/2005 Loy Canyon to Secret Mountain - Red Rock / Secret Mountain Wilderness - Coconino National Forest - Sedona Arizona
Virtual Hike with us through this 16+ mile in-and-out hike which starts with a gradual elevation climb the first 4 miles in a Sedona desert-like canyon, going up to the base of Secret Mountain...then it gets Real!! The climb up to the pine forest of Secret Mountain takes you over 1000ft elevation gain in one mile, with panoramic views of redrock canyons topped with high white cliffs on both sides - and yes I caught the sunset at dusk. 11/24/2005 Usery Pass - Usery Mountain Park -
Tonto National Forest - Arizona

11/19/2005 Bell Rock Trail and Courthouse Butte Loop - Munds Mountain Wilderness - Coconino National Forest - Oak Creek / Sedona Arizona
A view to fall in love with... high up on Bell Rock. This is a Sedona hike I do alone several times a year. Today I went for photos of scenic composition and ambiance. Yes I have a love affair with Sedona, but can you blame me?

11/06/2005 West Fork Oak Creek - Red Rock / Secret Mountain Wilderness -
Coconino National Forest - Sedona Arizona

Nothing is more amazing to me than Sedona magic. This was the second day of camping and hiking before heading back home. We hiked in on the trail, but hiked back through Oak creek (yeah I mean the creek!) ... est 7 miles - and could have stayed in this canyon all day. (photos by Nunya)

11/05/2005 Secret Canyon - Red Rock Secret Mountain Wilderness -
Coconino National Forest - Sedona Arizona

Secret Canyon in Sedona - a beautiful place to spend any time in.

10/30/2005 Dobbs Cabin - Momyer Creek Trail - San Gorgonio Wilderness -
San Bernardino Mountains California

My last hike in California was this 12+ mile hike which went up to over 7000ft elevation into a beautiful San Gorgonio canyon area where two rivers met in the Dobbs Cabin Campground. Dobbs cabin is long gone, but an awesome place to come back camping. (photos by Nunya)

10/29/2005 Pacific Crest Trail - Mt Center area California
26 Sierra San Gorgonio members hiked with me on my last group hike from my stay in California. 11 miles on the Pacific Coast Trail near Mountain Center (by Idyllwild), with an easy 800ft elevation change. Weather was cool, views for miles, and the company was great. (photos by Nunya)

10/23/2005 Mt Wilson - Little Santa Anita Canyon - San Gabriel Mountains - Pasadena California
Mount Wilson trail was constructed in 1864 as the route of the Annual Mt Wilson Trail race - held first in 1908 and won by Joseph B. King. Go Virtual Hike with us from 970ft elevation - up to 5650ft elevation in 7 miles - and back down again (14 miles round trip) - and why not... it was still daylight! (photos by Nunya)

10/22/2005 Devil's Punchbowl - Angeles National Forest -
San Gabriel Mountains - Pearblossom California

Devil's Chair and Devils Punchbowl are two distinctly different hikes in the same area. Go Virtual Hike with us as we did Devils Chair first as an in-&-out hike, 6+ miles est 1000ft elevation change. For scenic views, it was hard to get a bad photo! Devils Punchbowl is a mile loop
down in a canyon of lava rock. (photos by Nunya)

10/16/2005 Mt Baden-Powell via Vincent Gulch Divide - Angeles National Forest
San Gabriel Mountains - Wrightwood California

This was the BEST hike for fun during my whole California stay. A little slice of heaven. Out of 15 hikers, only 4 would make it to the top - and I was the second of those 4. Thank you Mitch for not giving up on me when you knew I wanted to go on - it was a BLAST!....okay actually a blizzard, but it was fun as hell! Only 4 miles up to 9400ft elevation - just under a 3000ft gain. The temps got down to the teens at the top, and my water froze in the tube - but putting it down my top thawed it right out. I never got cold - and kinda glad we missed that bear!  (photos by Nunya)

10/15/2005 Wild Horse Trail - Agua Tibia Wilderness - Temecula California

10/10/2005 Towsley Canyon - Santa Monica Mountains -
Santa Clarita Woodlands Park California

10/09/2005 Sandstone Peak - Santa Monica Mountains -

BEHIND THE SCENES ...   Many areas you hike have group size limits , which you need to be aware of.  All groups shown in the Virtual albums may appear to hike together, when in fact they do not.  *sorry, photographer editing illusion*  Groups are broken down into Fast-Medium-and-Slower hikers, with designated regrouping points along the way for safety purposes.  Educate yourself on the rules directly with the US Forest Service and National Park Service.  Don't assume - Get the facts first.

11/12/2005 Secret Canyon - Red Rock Secret Mountain Wilderness -
Coconino National Forest - Sedona Arizona

Deb took her parents and cousin Mark back to this beautiful canyon, but a recent heavy rain completely stripped the trees of the vivid color from last week - all the red, orange & gold leaves were on the ground. It looked like a completely different hike just one week later! We found many things we hadn't seen the week before! Temps between 50's-60's in the canyon, and 70's outside the canyon.  I appreciated getting to join their visit! (photos by Nunya)
