THIS site was created for the disabled and busy folks
who may never have the chance to see these places otherwise,
as well as for those that do hike and want ideas of where to go.
www.GoVirtualHike.com is a site for everyone

HIKING albums are listed in date order - with the most current date at the top.  The time of year, weather conditions, and people on the hike, make each album very unique.  Pick a location... VIEW a slideshow - and reading the captions will transport you to that place and moment in time.

BEHIND THE SCENES ...   Many areas you hike have group size limits , which you need to be aware of.  All groups shown in the Virtual albums may appear to hike together, when in fact they do not.  *sorry, photographer editing illusion*  Groups are broken down into Fast-Medium-and-Slower hikers, with designated regrouping points along the way for safety purposes.  Educate yourself on the rules directly with the US Forest Service and National Park Service.  Don't assume - Get the facts first.

04/07/2006 Brins Mesa to Soldiers Pass - Coconino National Forest -
Red Rock Secret Mountain Wilderness - Sedona Arizona

The Desert Trails Hiking Group of California planned their Sedona Getaway with fun! I caught up with a few of them on this easy 3 mile (500ft elevation) section of the Brins Mesa/Soldiers Pass Trail. Virtual Hike with us as we pass the Soldiers Arches, Seven Sacred Pools, and Devil's Kitchen - which is the largest active sinkhole in the area. (photos by Nunya)

04/15/2006 Loy Canyon to Secret Mountain - Coconino National Forest
Red Rock Secret Mountain Wilderness - Sedona Arizona

This is NOT a hike for your casual hiker, even though much of it is a nice stroll. Go Virtual Hike with us through this 16+ mile in-and-out hike which starts with a gradual elevation climb the first 4 miles in a Sedona desert-like canyon, going up to the base of Secret Mountain... THEN up the 1000ft elevation climb in 1 mile, to the pine forest of Secret Mountain with panoramic views of redrock canyons topped with high white cliffs on both sides. (photos by Nunya)

04/08/2006 West Fork Oak Creek - Coconino National Forest -
Red Rock Secret Mountain Wilderness - Sedona Arizona

05/06/2006 West Fork Oak Creek - Coconino National Forest -
Red Rock Secret Mountain Wilderness - Sedona Arizona

West Fork Oak Creek is no doubt my favorite Sedona hike. Usually you hike this in-and-out the 3 miles up to the point where the canyon dead ends at the water..., but not this time Bay-Bee!! Our water shoes are on and we're taking you in with us!! Go Virtual Hike with us as we take you 3-5 miles (okay it felt like 5 miles in) into this beautiful redrock canyon and show you the Splendor that is Oak Creek in May. (photos by Nunya)

04/07/2006 Cathedral Rock - Coconino National Forest -
Oak Creek / Sedona Arizona

Normally I do Virtual Hike albums for you to see the hike - this album is that, yet a whole lot more. Go Virtual Hike with the Desert Trails Hiking Group as they conquer 608ft in .07 miles up Cathedral Rock in Sedona Arizona. To those that came on this hike that day, truly created a moment to remember. I am so glad to have met everyone and shared this day with them. Thank you Desert Trails Hiking Club of Palm Springs California. (photos by Nunya)

04/08/2006 Bell Rock Trail and Courthouse Butte Loop -
Munds Mountain Wilderness - Coconino National Forest -
Oak Creek / Sedona Arizona

04/09/2006 Broken Arrow Trail to Submarine Rock -
Coconino National Forest - Oak Creek / Sedona Arizona
The entire round-trip hike of Broken Arrow to Submarine Rock can be done in as little as 3.5 miles, but classically showcases the beauty of Sedona redrock while rewarding with panoramic views. This hike was done with the Desert Trails Hiking Club of Palm Springs California. (photos by Nunya)

04/09/2006 Cathedral Rock via the backside BaldwinTrail to Templeton Trail - Coconino National Forest - Oak Creek / Sedona Arizona
A Forest Ranger once told me that going in the backway to get to Cathedral Rock, was actual more beautiful - and right she was! The immediate reward is that you hike in and out by Oak Creek, and it is impossible to not linger there as long as you can. Virtual hike with us as we take the "locals" non-tourist route up to one of the most beautiful places in Sedona. (photos by Nunya)

06/17/2006 South Kaibab to Phantom Ranch - up Bright Angel -

Go Virtual Hike down South Kaibab starting at 7260ft elevation to Phantom Ranch (at 2400ft elevation), and back up Bright Angel (6900ft elevation). Spectacular views, snakes, lizards and deer - and the photo of the three crazy hikers that finished this trek. (photos by Nunya)

The Middle Fork of Taylor Creek is an easy 5 mile round trip (450ft ec) trail that leads to a Double Arch Alcove - an area so massive that you'd need a special camera to capture it all in one frame. Go Virtual Hike with us through some highlights along this Kolob Utah trail: towering canyon walls, flowers, log cabins, tadpoles, lizards and a very cool snake! The deer flies were many and hungry around the sand areas of Taylor Creek - keep that in mind for going on this trail. (photos by Nunya)

06/10/2006 Havasupai Falls - South Rim Grand Canyon Arizona
A day of rest & play at Havasupai still ended up being 12 miles hiked. Enjoy a few highlight photos of Mooney and Navajo Fall areas. (photos by Nunya)

South Rim Grand Canyon Arizona

If you ever wanted to step a moment back in time to total childhood play - THIS is the hike for you! (photos by Nunya)

06/08/2006 Havasupai - Hike In -
South Rim Grand Canyon Arizona

This started out a 10-day, 117 mile hike-fest for 4 of us. These are Highlight shots, as the majority of the hike was done in the rain - which was really cool! This 11 mile hike into Havasupai starts at the Hualapai Hilltop (5200ft elevation down to 2800ft el) on the South Rim of the Grand Canyon. To "cheat" and take a helecopter in would only rob you of getting to see the beauty that surrounds you on the hike in. (photos by Nunya)

Boulder hop, slide down waterfalls and miss that rattlesnake that almost didn't miss us!! (photos by Nunya)

06/16/2006 Grosvenor ARch -
Grand Staircase - Escalante National Monument Utah
The Grosvenor Arch is a beautiful highlight located in the Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument (Kodachrome Utah area). While noted as less than a mile hike, do yourself a favor and stop. Take the trail around the 99ft expanse of the Arch, and climb up the backside for some fantastic fun!
(photos by Nunya)

06/16/2006 Hackberry Canyon -
Grand Staircase - Escalante National Monument - Utah

Cottonwood Canyon Road itself and the amazing rock display called Coxcomb, is an amazing not-to-be-missed experience in Utah. Go Virtual Hike with us as we show you some sites that can be experienced in Hackberry Canyon - Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument Utah.

06/15/2006 Willis Narrows -
Grand Staircase - Escalante National Monument Utah

Willis Creek Canyon is a 5 mile (round trip 40ft ec) hike with narrows, located in the Kodachrome Utah area of the Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument. Water shoes made this narrows hike more fun! Why stay out of the water if you don't have to? At the end, see what's left of the 1950's truck wedged in Bull Valley Gorge and read the history.
